Helo D_Alien, thank you for the response,
I had recently bought a measuring spoon that shows the exact measurement. I have reduced the doseage upto 1/4 teaspoon and my diarrhea and stomach pain has subsided. Today I increased it upto 1/2 teaspoon twice a day...which means 2.5 grams per day in total.
Do you take 2.5 g total in one day once....or divided into two doeses?
So far I dont notice any difference, am sure because the dose is low.I also cannot take the L-Tryptophan as recommended on an empty stomach, because I get stomach cramps. Im now taking 400mg Niacin(as Hexa-Nicotinate Inositol), twice a day... and also B-Complex which includes 200mg of B6 and B3 ...twice a day as well.
I will give the L-Tryptophan a try for some more time and let me see how it goes. I am taking it for my depression, anxiety and OCD .
What are you taking L-Tryptophan for?
Thanks again .

Ooops. Sigh. I just realised buying the powder form was a big mistake. How am I going to measure one gram of Tryptophan? Oooof. I should have bought the capsules form.

Hi,
I teaspoon is approx 2.5 g You would be better off getting a measuring spoon though, to be more accurate. I having been taking about 2.5g for some time now. At times I have had great results but lately it just doesn't seem to be doing anything :(
Make sure you're taking a b complex with it as B3 & B6 are essential in working with the Tryptophan. Inositol is also supposed to help...anyway let us know how you go with it.

Hi,
I'm taking it mainly anxiety but also mild depression... When I tried 5-HTP a while back it gave me major stomach problems, but forunately with the L-tryptophan I haven't had these troubles. I take it in one dose, shortly before bed. Apparently you should avoid a protein meal within an hour and a half of taking it...
Hope that helps.

Please help! I'm coming off Paroxetine (Paxil/Seroxat) and my anxiety - social phobia - is coming back :(
I can't stay on Paroxetine as it makes me soooo tired and I want to try an alternative remedy that doesn't involve prescription drugs.
Been doing lots of net research but i'm getting quite confused as to what works for what symptoms - so it's really useful to hear ppl's personal experiences...
The things i'm interested in so far are - 5-HTP - SJW - not sure if this works for social anxiety though - Relora - Rhodeola - Australian Bush Flower Remedies - Confidessence in particular - Picamilon (GABA bonded with Niacin 3) - Mood Food (Higher Nature's brand that i've read about in the book 'Natural Highs' by Patrick Holford) - which seems to combine various things like 5-HTP and Kava etc...
Already taking Omega 3 (flax) and B vitamins.
Any ideas / personal experiences would be really welcome. And of course I will post mine as and when i try things!!
Thank you and keep up the fight everyone
Gaia xx
