Hello.
Im in Western Australia. Does anyone know of a good site that sends inexpensive 5htp this way quickly? Also how much can you purchase at one time of what dose?

Hi,
Good news possibly. You can drive to the "Stay Healthy" Store at the Galleria. It sells 5HTP. It's about $60 a bottle (60 or 100 tablets...I can't remember). Brand Thompsons. Works for me. I don't know if any other stores sell it. This health food store is apparently owned by someone who also owns a chemist, so they may get special priviliges. They also have a naturopath there. I have used both iHerb.com and vitacost.com for shipping from the US to Japan. I checked iHerb.com and they say this about Australia--"Australia, New Zealand: Customs there are rather difficult to deal with. They may delay your order, and you may have to pay lots of import duties, sometimes as much as the value of what you have ordered. Also, many products, such as DHEA, are not allowed to be imported, unless with a Doctor's prescription. Order with caution."

Thank Eddie. I got onto American Nutrition who have htp very cheap.But have been waiting 4 and a half weeks and still no stress free package!! Do you receive word when customs prohibit your package??

No. Worst thing that happens in Japan is you get a big tax bill. There's no telling if you'll get it or not. Like Russian roulette. I've ordered from iHerb and Vitacost about five times, and I got a big tax bill once. Go figure. As long as you get it, that's the important thing, right?

Oh, and I ordered 2-3 bottles with no problems from customs, no delays...as it should be, because 5-HTP, as far as I know, isn't banned in Australia, it's just not available to buy here. Similar situation with L-tryptophan which I now take- it's only available here on prescription :( which forces me to order it from the US at an exorbitant cost ($75 USD for 100g). Luckily it passes through customs OK, although every parcel I've ordered has been inspected...
