I just started taking St John's Wort again (after a break) and would like to try taking it and 5-htp. Does anyone here take both and if so what do we know about interactions?

In my experience of taking Amoryn, SJW and 5 HTP do not mix well. I was fine on Kira but suffered insomnia and depression whilst taking Amoryn. I really went back compared to how I felt on Kira. I am stopping Amoryn now. I think it has too many things mixed in it, SJW, 5 HTP, B vitamins, vitamin D folic acid and selenium, no wonder it caused insomnia with the 5 HTP and all those vitamins plus other vitamin supplements I was taking, even when I cut out the other vitamins I still had the same side effects. Amoryn didn't make me feel happy like Kira, it just brought my mood to an all time low. Maybe 5 HTP works well for some people but not in my experience.

Hey I'm trying the same thing. Amoryn has both SJW and 5-HTP in it, so I just started taking it. I will let you know. Are you taking this for depression or anxiety, or both? I will say about 1-2 hours after I take it, I get very calm and relaxed (almost too much so!). I don't know if this is the SJW or 5-HTP.

I'm taking it for severe anxiety and mild depression. Please keep me posted on Amoryn - I thought about taking it, but I'm just on Kira now.
What else have you tried?
