I used Perika brand SJW for over 2 months for mild depression with obsessive negative, worrisome thoughts and anxiety. I didn't see any improvement with Perika and in fact felt more obsessive and tense on it, so I switched to 5-HTP a month ago. I noticed a mood improvement as soon as I made the switch to 5-HTP--I became less obsessive and my negative thoughts became less frequent and it was easier to "talk myself out" of them. I don't know if this is simply due to stopping the SJW or due to taking 5-HTP. After all, someone mentioned that Perika is a very activating form of SJW and can make anxiety worse. In order to figure out if 5-HTP really worked, I've decided to take a "drug holiday" and not use anything for a while. I'll report back here with the results!
