hi ive been on and off several different anti depressants -the last being serzone which i took for 18months. I put on weight and had terrible withdrawls coming off this. vowed NEVER to take antidepressants again as side effects such as weigth gain and loss of libido just add to dpression. But ive been feeling panicky, anxious, weepy, and just cant function. Dr suggested aropax which i took for 5 days and couldnt handle nausea plus i actually felt far more anxious all the time. Stopped that and after a few days tried 5htp which seems to be doing same thing. Taking it at night but i cant sleep and feel very very anxious.Could it be none of this stuff is for me? It helps me to know im not alone but i feel sorry for anyone who has to feel like this.

Yea, try upping your dosage. I take 500mg twice a day on an empty stomach with a vitamin B-6 and B-3. Once in between meals and once before bed. That one guy is right. Maybe it's cos the antidepressants you were taking are still in your system. I also take Tyrosine, to make the other happy neurotransmitters. This all works pretty good for me, maybe it will for you.

I read somewhere that increasing the dosage of 5htp would give results - also what brand are you using?
Yeah you need to give enough time for the other ADs to get out of your system, or you may end up with nasty symptoms.
Hang in there!

How long have you been off the meds? through my exprience I have found that it take a little while for your body to get back to normal. Don't forget that the meds num your emotions and for 18 month you problly didn't feel anything and now that your off them .your feeling everything 10 time more that before I Have found that exersice helps and drink a lot of water sweat that stuff out off you and replace the nutreins your body needs B complex, a good multi vit amino adic's etc. don't forget to tell your self thats its the withdrawals that happening and they will pass.I know its hard try not to dwell in the feelings but just go on with your every day life. They will pass and you'll get stronger and stronger
hope that helps a little
