Just wanted to check if its okay to have a glass of wine once in a while when taking 5HTP? I know with anti-depressants you can't drink at all. I've been taking it for a few days and I can really see improvement in sleep and mood. I was actually laughing yesterday and I can cope with stress a bit better.

5-HTP is a protein (precursor to serotonin) and I'm sure it's OK to use alcohol lightly to moderately while taking it.
P.S... personally, I stopped taking it. Too many worries/warnings which I found disturbing. These days I'm taking SAM-e with a B-50 complex vitamin and it seems to have "kicked in" today.

Yes I read that 5HTP should not be taken long term, that there is nolong term research on it. I will take it for a while and see how it goes. Also doses higher than 50mg should not be taken and breaks should be taken so one month on one month off..according to my research on the net..
I don't know...I know that I cannot take ssri medication
Is SAM-e availabe in Canada do you know?
I also found that spirulina has all amino acids so I've been taking that..and b vitamins ofcourse.

I saw SAM-E in costco in toronto.
