"5-HTP under the tongue" , Wed 26 Nov 11:57

Has anyone else tried emptying the 5-HTP contents under their tongue, holding it their for 5-10 minutes and absorbing it that way? (swalling afterwards)

Were the effects stronger?

Matt

"Yes, under tongue" , Fri 28 Nov 20:44

Did that earlier today when a bout of aura struck. I think it is somewhat faster than swallowing the capsule. I don't know if would be stronger.

"Not Good!" , Tue 2 Dec 01:29

No offense to either of you guys OK, as I'm sure you're just looking for ways to "catapult" the 5-HTP a bit, but there are much better ideas than breaking the capsule open, and placing the powder under your tongue! I am very doubtful that this method will do anything for you, other than create more side effects, and a good "buzz", since the nutrient is bypassing the GI Tract, and going right into the blood, and to the brain. I'm quite certain that if you do this with a dosage of 100mg., you will feel pretty crappy for a while! Good way to promote a "Serotonin Syndrome" too, if you do it frequently enough! So, in my estimation, this is very "ill advised"!

How much HTP do you guys use a day? Do you realize that dosages of up to 1000mg. daily are safe? Only in capsule form though. It's not like you guys are using Zoloft, where dosage increases are difficult because of the severe side effects to the GI Tract. 5-HTP is pretty well tolerated, even at high doses. The only thing that will likely happen is you'll develop mild stomach upset and gas, and when you adjust to the additional Serotonin in the gut, this will likely diminish. If it doesn't, you can add some "Probiotics", which are friendly bacteria that travel to the intestines, and eliminate stomach ailments and gas problems. They can be expensive, but I am aware of some supplements that contain Probiotics, along with a whole host of other "goodies", at a very affordable price!

There are also some very good brands of "Liquid Serotonin" out there, as well as "Liquid 5-HTP". These agents are meant to be taken under the tongue guys, but the dosages are much different than capsules. If interested, E-Mail me at "[email protected]", and I'll give you more details on some options.
