Hi all!
I am new to all this and need some advice. I've been taking sjw for a month and a half and 5 htp for about a month now. I'm taking 3*300mg sjw. I started with 3*50mg of 5 htp and then I raised it to 3*100mg. I'm also taking homeopathic vaccinations 3 times a week. I do feel better but I'm tired most of the day and especially in the afternoons. I think I will started taking the lower dose of 5 htp (3*50 mg). Does anybody have any advice? Should I maybe stop taking sjw?
I don't know what to do because I know it takes time to start working and get rid of the side effects.
I talked to my homeopathic dr and he told me that sjw is quite weak. He is specialised in herbals and not in hormones and aminoacids so I didn't discuss the dosage of 5 htp with him, although he told me it is very good against depression.
The problem is I am tired and I'm still waking up several times a night. Sometimes I can't return to sleep for few hours. And
then, as you can imagine, racing thoughts are starting to come out.
I suffer from depression and anxiety. I also felt horrible derealization for few months and it was probably caused by anxiety. I feel better now but still not quite as myself. I believe I am tired from insomnia as well. As for dreaming, I dream too often and too vivid.
Any suggestions about mixing sjw and 5 htp? How much and how often should I take them?

I have also read that 5 htp can cause sleep disturbances, even waking suddenly with panic like attacks

I take a b12 with sjw to increase energy levels. A side affect of most anti depressants can be fatigue. I was tired for the first month while taking sjw and while taking prozak. I takes about a month and you should be feeling normal again.

Hi There
I have been on SJW for about 9 weeks now..I think I am doing a little bit better but I am thinking that I should try 5htp..
I am not sure if they can be taken together ..and what the dosage should be..glad you asked your questions. Hopefully someone will respond and let us know.

I've been having some doubts, because I've read some articles where they is not advised to take them together 'cause of the serotonin syndrome. On the other side there are also sites where it's advised.
There are so many opinions.
Good luck with 5 htp.

There have been no reports, AFAIK, of serotonin syndrome resulting from 5-HTP + SJW.
Serotonin syndrome is not even close to 100% guaranteed even with prescription SSRIs.
