For any of you on "Tryptophan" I'd like to know how you are doing? What strength you are on (Milligrams daily) on powder or capsule form and where you get your product from and how much.

I'm currantly on Tryptophan and just want to connect, with a few concerns I had.
Thanks, Pauline

Pauline,
Sorry this isn't about tryptophan. I was wondering if you are still low-carbing? I recently went back to Atkins and lost 9lbs so far. But I'm looking for a buddy to help me get through the holidays. Interested?

Hi there MJ;

Yes, I "have" to be on low carb for life, and have been for years already, do to my hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I can get quite inventive though in cooking and altering receipes to make them low carb. One, I like is pumpkin pie. I make it crustless. (actually, I grease and flour my pie pan, like I would do for a cake. This makes for a paper then crust.) Also, looking at the label on the pumpkin can, carbs are very low. I just cut back half on the sugar content to add and in substitue of the sweetened evap milk, I use softened Bryer's new "Carb Control" vanilla ice cream. The pie turns out just great.
So we don't use this board for anything other than for anti-depressant reasons, we can keep in touch by email. My email should be on my profile here. But, low carb DOES help many with releiving underlying biological reasons for depression and anxiety, as these symptoms ARE related to hypoglycemia and people who eat high carb/sugar diets. It's very common.
Pauline (PS) I have a good low carb cheesecake receipe;.

Do you count carbs? What is your range? I'm at 20-30 carbs/day. Is it easier because you know you are eating this way for your health? Do you tell people it's for your health? I don't talk about it much because the people I have mentioned it to, in the past, think I'm crazy and that Atkins/low-carb is bad. My mom still goes to WW and has only lost weight to gain it back plus some. I have had a better response from waiters/tresses at restaurants. This is my second time around and I am determined to get to my goal. I just need the support, and accountability. I go to the other http://forum.lowcarber.org for ideas and such, but there are so many people...

The new health store in East Syracuse has an Atkins support group, I'm considering attending a meeting or two.

Can't get to your e-mail address from here, but maybe I can send you a private message from the other forum.

Good for you. That support group sounds great. I too am with you on keeping diet expainations to yourself, as others don't understand. But, the low carb plan does work. No, I don't count cartbs, but do probably take in about 60 carb grams a day, 20 with each meal, mostly in vegetables and some fresh fruit. I can't to 20 carbs, as my blood sugar levels would get to low and this would cause symptoms. Keep with it, you are on the right track !
PS. Can't find your email address on your profile, can you leave it here, than I can send you my low carb cheesecake receipe.
