Are there any known weight gain and / or sexual side affects from 5HTP as there sometimes are with SSRI.
Trying to see if it makes sense to switch from Zoloft (works great for depression but caused me to gain 60 lbs - and no way to loss weight even when doing strict atkins diet and 40 minutes of exercise per day)

There is some research that shows that 5htp (taken before meals) reduces appetite. Atleast one reputable brand (Natrol) is now marketing 5htp for weight reduction.
In some people, 5htp can also restore sexual function that is lost in depression. Increased spontaneous errections are one of the better side effects I have experienced. Or maybe I am just getting younger!!
