anyone who combined celexa and 5 HTP? celexa is increasing my apetite and i tried 5 HTP before to control it. 5 HTP does work- even 50 mg a day- to control apetite but when i used it with celexa my mood changed and i got depressed so i dropped 5 HTP in 3 days. maybe it was just a coincidence, i don`t know. any ideas? can 5 HTP cause depression when taken along with SSRIs? thanx

i do know i was warned about doing this as it may actually cause serotonin syndrome, thus having too much seratonin in your system. i quit taking celexa due to the side effects and take 5htp alone now. good luck :) lana

You should not take 5htp at all while on celexa or any other SSRI. It can lead to a serious condition called seritonin syndrome. You really should ask your doctor if you are eating a lot more. But do not take 5htp. Smiles Krissy
