From my experience I would say that the half-life is 8 hours, but I have no other information to back that up.

I didn't realize that 5-HTP was a radioactive material. :) If the half-life is 8 hours it could fuel rockets to take us to the moon. Was the original question more along the lines of, "how long does it last?" or something like that?

Half-life is a numerical expression of how long it takes for a drug to leave your body. Technically, the "half-life," is the time it takes for half of the amount consumed to be eliminated from your body. At least this is the definition I am using for Half-Life.
