Hello I am new here and just have a quick question. I was put on 20mg Paxil 3 days ago my my doctor for depresion. I have takin 3 pills, and after reading about all the crap that come with it decided on a more natural way. So I would like to try 5-hpt I was woundering if anyone knows how long I should wait before taking a 5-htp. Like should I just stop taking paxil and go right on 5-hpt? what should i do

3 days is nothing. i think you can stop it right away. and you can start the 5 HTP immediately too. the only thing is that if you feel any sideeffects you won`t know if it is paxil withdrawal or 5 HTP. so i would stop the paxil and wait for a couple of days and start 5 HTP if everthing feels all right. if you get withdrawal from paxil, which i don`t think you will considering the fact that you will have quit only after 3 days, then do it gradually. drop to 10 and then to 5 etc.

I think you should wean yourself off of paxil slowly over a couple of weeks, and then you can start the 5htp. 300 mg/day is a good dose to start with.
