Topic Title: Upping dosage?

Hi everybody.
I recently started getting over my sleep problems with SJW by adding back 5htp (50mg 3 x daily). However over the last couple of days I'm starting to revert to insomnia land again - and I'm not particularly anxious about anything either.
I really don't get it. First couple of weeks on SJW - total insomnia but feeling positive (weird combo) - second month and have had a few TOTAL SLEEP nights (i.e. 8 gorgeous uninterrupted hours, waking to feel sleepy, warm, and not wanting to get out of bed but in a happy way). Last week - back into light dozing/dreaming most of the night working up to viscious circle of anxious frustration (which is the opposite of what I want to feel in order to get back to sleep).
I do my best to maintain good sleeping habits (reading, herbal tea, bath, talking about stuff I'm stressed about to get it out of the way, no/very little alchohol, no ciggys just before bed etc etc etc etc); however the little demon insomnia still somehow manages to get his claws into me when the light goes out.
Should I upp the dosage of 5htp? Will i keep on having to up the dosage in that case?? What about taking a short break from 5htp to make it more effective again (have sneaking suspicion my body gets used to these things rendering them of less use)?
What do people think? Does 5htp lose its effectiveness if taken day-in, day-out, or is the effect just less?
Note, I take 5htp throughout the day to help with my eating disorder, so I don't want to just take it all at once in the evening. However how much is really safe to take in the evening on top of 100mg during the day?

Do you use Natures Way? Maybe you could try taking them all before you go to bed. The 5-htp that is, in stead of throughout the day.

Hiya -
yeah I take Nature's Way (other brands made me feel nauseous) 50mg. What I'm wondering is will it still have a regulating action on my apetite if I take it all before bed? I've been struggling with bulimia for years and am starting to get to grips with establishing good eating patterns, so I don't want to change anything that's helping if I can.
Actually I had a good night's sleep last night. Just in case anybody has similar probs to me, here's how I did it:
7pm. Feeling a bit anxious (worrying about not sleeping again) 8pm. Take 500mg Valerian and 300mg Kava Kava and 200mg theanine (don't care if feel drowsy at this point, figure it is better than being stressed-out). 9pm. Eat. Fish, veggies, etc. 11.30pm. Sleep. Yes, sleep. Couldn't believe it!
Before I only took the Valerian right when I went to bed, as I thought getting sleepy too early wouldn't help. I now think it's all about levels of anxiety. Lowering the anxiety early on in the evening seems to help get my brain geared up for sleep later on.
Loops.
