Does anyone know if it is safe to take Gingko biloba with 5-HTP? I've already been taking Gingko for several months, and I'm about to start the 5-HTP. I was wondering if I needed to stop taking the Gingko, because I am unaware of how they interact together. I have a lot of anxiety and depression, and like many others, I don't want to take a ssri. I'm glad that I found this website. Any response would be appreciated.

I've posted questions on this site twice, and I never got a single response. Maybe no one knew the answer to my questions? Even if no one knew, it still would have been nice to get a response. Or, maybe the people that regularly post here only answer to a certain group of people. Maybe newcomers aren't welcome. I don't know. Most people wait days and days before they get a response here, so I'll assume that not many people come to the 5-HTP forum. Oh well.... Goodbye.

I have searched the web on this subject beofre and have not found any information that contraindicates usage of 5-htp and ginkgo. That of course in itself doesn't mean anything. on the drug interaction checkers out there, no information exists stating that they CANT be taken together. I found nothing that says they CAN be taken together either!

I took ginkgo with a dosage of 100mg of 5-htp and did not notice any side effects. (5-htp for helping with paxil withdrawal (after discontinuation of paxil) and Ginkgo to help with short-term memory loss which i suffered as a result of paxil usage.) I still take ginkgo regularly but 5-htp irregularly.

Have you checked this with a reputable pharmacy or medical practicioner?

Thanks, Jomat and DuPont. I have not started the ginkgo yet, I'm just taking the 5-HTP right now. I'll probably add the gingko at a later date. Thanks for the links, Jomat. I'll check them out.
