| | "Stress and Insomnia - will 5htp help??" , Tue 4 Feb 05:30:
I have been taking 5-htp for some time now (about a year) and found it has helped really well with severe insomnia. However I have recently started a new job - I have to get up really early and it is also very demanding. I have started really bad insomnia again, not going to sleep till 3am, waking frequently etc...... I need help!!! I was taking 50mg once a day at 6pm, should i increase the dose??? I find taking it too close to bed gives me wild dreams.
Any advice would be really appreciated as i really need sleep. I am scared of slipping back down that black hole again thanks mel

Hi,
I think 5-HTP is fantastic too, sometimes I will still have trouble sleeping even after taking the 5-HTP, this doesn't happen all the time. Although when it does I take a valarian tablet as well and that seems to do the trick.

In the beginning I took 5-HTP at about 4.00pm in the afternoon. Now I take it at all different times. Sometimes in the morning sometimes at lunch time, sometimes just before I go to bed. I take it for fibromyalgia, so when ever my back starts hurting I take it. When I first started taking it I had weird dreams, more like disturbing. Now days I still dream although they are not disturbing dreams anymore.
