Hello
I am currently taking 600 mg of 5-htp (Nature's Way brand) and 1800 mg of SJW (Enzymatic Therapy) per day. I have been doing this for about a week. My depression has not lifted at all.
I also take the multi-vitimin and an extra B-50.
Does anyone have any experience with using higher dosages of either product above the ones I am currently taking?
It doesn't seem like increasing the dosages would matter.

If I have my information right you have only been on these medications for about 3 weeks. It can take up to 8 weeks before you feel any changes. I would give it more time before going to a higher dose, although I am kind of surprised you don't feel anything at the doses you are taking. I would think that you would at least be sleepy...

I do not normally read the 5-HTP foums much but I'm very disappointed to read this sort of discussion here. These are very high dosages of both antidepressants and you both are fully aware of this.
If you want to experiment on yourself, take it to email. Don't take to self-medicating a severe problem like severe depression. If you have any medical studies to back up such severely high amounts of both SJW and 5-HTP, I want you to post them here.
Drugs are not the answer to everything. I don't care if they're herbal, perscribed or otherwise. If you're taking not just one antidepressant but two of them, and both at very high dosages (much higher than any medical practicioner I'd want to know would recommend), please get thee to a psychiatrist right away. If you don't have one, go to your family doctor or at least a walk-in clinic and get referred. I can't support either of you talking each other into it or let you use this forum to experiment (possibly unsafely) on yourself.
