Topic Title: Other ways to help depresion

I no longer suffer from depression but i thought i would post a few more ways to help. I feel sorry for people who have depression and have tried every way to get out of it but some people get give advice like Im about to give and dont bother doing it. Well if thats you then you then your pretty silly!
Any way if you have depression then you MUST MUST MUST do the following things (why doctors dont tell everyone this i dont know!)
1. Excercise for 20-30 mins EVERY DAY at a pretty fast rate (heart at least 150 BPM and no more than 180) I know if your dpressed excerising is hard but YOU MUST DO IT EVERY DAY.
2. Meditate for 20 mins 2 times a day. Do this straight after excercise for best results. I find its really easy to get into the groove.
3. Eat LOADS of fruit and veg. Like 4-5 pices of fruit and like 10 RAW yes ALWAYS raw vegetables. These foods not only have vitamins in etc they hold something called pranic energy (its a bit spiritual) that lifts you mood. The more fresh the fruit/veg the more energy it holds.
4. Drink AT LEAST 2 litres of water a day. have a galss with you at all times.. If you are low on water it makes you feel depressed. most people feel low in mood because they dont drink enough. Whats the point in takeing SJW or HTP if your low water levels make you tired and you dont bother sorting it out?
5. being tired connects to depression. Try taking garuana, ginseng etc to raise energy levels when you get depressed.
6. Bordem. One thing depression connects to also is bordem. Depresion sometimes is a symptom af an illness which is trying to tell you something is wrong with your life, this being you dont do enough exciting stuff. Get into more exciting stuff. Choose your tv programs more carefully and tape anything you like to watch later Dont slump and watch tv your not to into. Listen to more music. Try some new sports. Go out more. Cram your life with the most exciting stuff you can. Try something that wakes your soul up like handgliding or bungee jumping. DEPRESSION IS WARNING YOU THAT YOU ARNT LIVING ON THE EDGE ENOUGH.
Some people want to know the meaning of life. Well i know the meaning of life and ill share it with you Well i tell you on of the things most dead people, when they look back on thier lives in the afterlife/higher dimensions (if you believe in that) is I WISH I HAD GOT INTO MY PASSIONS/HOBBIES a bit more. If you like something get into it more.. If you like a sport or a type of music dive into it more. The meaning of life is to find passions and dive into them as much as you can. After all the meaning of life on earth is time away from heaven. You know we all have depression because in heaven we are high all day long and so we have to step out of the metaphorical hot shower/bath into the cold so to speak and have a rough time on earth so that when we get back into the shower/bath(heaven) we apreciate the warmth a lot more. Isnt it almost obvious when you think about it? So to cut it short we will all be in heaven in a few years again doing anything we wat all day long.. You want sex 24 hours a day, you got it! You wanna be high on drugs all day? you got it! This advice im giving you all is very rare and hard to come by so please if you listen to anything I say list to this last bit. Because the meaning of life is to find heaven, when we have found it we realise that what ever we wish for we get one day. So get wishing! I WARN YOU THE BIGEST REGRET EVER IS AFTER YOU DIE AND GET TO NIRAVANA IS THE FOLLOWING: (and dont say i didnt warn you)
I WISH I HAD REALISED I GET WHAT EVER I WAN WHEN I DIE AND MADE MORE WISHES WHILE I WAS ON EARTH.....
now i have warned you so I dont wanna see you in heaven and you say to me opss iI didnt listen to you and make any wishes cause I though you were taking rubbish.. So what if im wrong? well your wishs wont come true and you will of wasted a few minuites of your time. So you have nothing to loose by thinking about what you want to do in heaven.
anyone heere want to talk more about heaven? after all thats why we are all here with depression!

Hi,I've been lurking around here for the past couple of days reading up on people's experiences with SJW & 5-htp and I came across this posting.
All of the things the poster says makes all of the sense in the world. But only if you're suffering from circumstantial depression. Like, my dog died, I've lost my job, my husband/wife left me, etc.
But when I'm going about my daily business as usual and I can't stop crying nor do I have the slightest idea why, none of that helps. It's not a matter of me refusing to get up and take a walk or call a friend, or open the blinds and let some sunlight into my apartment, it all boils down to the fact that I can't. I would if I could.
I think a lot of people confuse depression with sadness. IMO sadness is due to outside circumstances whereas depression originates within the brain. Something isn't working right.
There are plenty of times when I'm sad and I can just shake it off so to speak. I know why I'm sad, and I know there are particular things I can do to pull myself out of this mind set. But when depression hits, it's not that easy. It's not like I'm sitting around crying because I want to.
Hell,I can even be with my friends or co-workers laughing, joking and seemingly enjoying myself, but my mind and body still feels heavy. Like there has been a weight placed upon me that I can't get rid of. So while everyone around me sees this happy, motivated, individual, I can't wait until I am able to go home and turn off the lights, climb under the covers and cry.
There are times when my moods stabalize and I feel motivated to exercise, meditate, eat healthy and everything else that's sure to promote a healthy state of mind. But eventually my mood drops and again I've fallen back into a state of despair

I'd just like to thank you for your post, sreliamtoh. While usually i would find myself skeptical and kind of critical of someone who speaks of things you posted, for some reason i found your thoughts and words extremely uplifting, motivating, and moving. I feel that even if you aren't a spritual person, which you obviously are and I undecided yet, that there is a great deal of truth in your words.
I would just like to thank you for your post for it has, for some reason, given me a (at least temporary) sense of motiviation for life and what i do with it.

Thanks alot, while I'm typing this right now I just lighted up a cigarette after five hours of quitting, you know, for my health and all. I figured that if I'm going to have one life on this earth, I might as well just smoke and save myself the stress of nicotine withdrawal. No, don't take this literally, I'm just poking fun and trying to be friends:), I did pick up that cigarette though after five hours because It's my problem and something that I'll get through next time I hope. Anyways, thanks for the post, I found it to be cute and inspiring. Yeah, your right, if Heaven awaits me, I hope it involves passionate love making, herbal remedys that you smoke(if you know what I mean),beautiful music, and knowing my family is safe and happy so I guess I'll enjoy life here on earth, just in case. Hope to talk to you soon. Thanks again
PS: Congradulations on beating depression:)

I agree very much. There's a lot of other ways to fight depression other than taking pills.

I agree that would help. But if you're majorly depressed that won't work. You did mention it's hard for someone who's depressed to do this but they must do it.. but you simply CAN'T! Unless you have a devoted friend who will come to make you do it with a gun to your head it's very hard to do. It's like telling someone who is obese that if they eat less they'll lose weight. They know this already.. but they simply can't do it. Soemtimes you need to take something to get to the point that you will be able to do something.
