Does anyone have any experience of the efficacy of 5-htp on epstein barr virus? I was positively diagnoed with EBV but ended up on Paxil (as a result of the confusion - real or not - between depression, anxiety and EBV) and more or less went cold turkey when i went off Paxil (frightening stuff). I have just started 5-htp which was recommended to help with Paxil withdrawal symptoms (i think it's helping...it's early days. am taking 500mg a day in split dosages).

Any other EBV sufferers on the board?

Around 95% of Americans over the age of 35 have the EBV sleeping tightly in their throat :)

But maybe you are referring to Infectious Mononucleosis, which is caused when you are infected by the EBV, but goes away (by itself) after some time (it can take up to 6 months). After mono's cycle completes, the virus remains in your throat forever. Nothing you can do about it, but it doesn't bother you either.

How are you suffering from it?
I had mono about a year ago. It came fully accessorized with a very sore throat, swollen tonsils (well, actually, swollen... pretty much everything), a streptococcal infection and fever. It lasted somewhere around 3 months.
