Topic Title: WAKING UP TO PEE
| | "WAKING UP TO PEE" , Thu 16 May 07:00
Hi everyone. Still on 5htp and doing pretty good. Sleeping much better. Falling asleep within 30 minutes and not waking up every hour anymore. Now. I have a problem of waking up about 3 am to go pee pee. If I try to hold it and wait till 7am when it's time to get up, sometime I can't go back to sleep because I feel my bladder. If I get up to go, sometimes I can't go back to sleep because I got up. What a problem huh? Either way, this sometimes keeps me up when I wake up. Sometimes I can go back to sleep, but sometimes I can't. On the nights I can't, I suffer greatly all day at work and when I get off from work because I am dead tired. I want to take a nap but if I do, that will mess up my sleep that night. What I have been doing is not drinking anything after 6 pm. I go to bed at 1030pm. It works sometimes but most of the time I still have to go pee in the middle of the night. I have been trying to hold it when I wake up in the middle of the night. It seems like my body is used to waking up at 3am to pee pee. I'm trying to teach my body not to wake up by peeing when I get up at 7 am. It seems to be working a little. Now I wake up around 5 am or 6 am. I hold it but don't fall back to sleep if I wake up at around 6am. Do you think this will work? When I do hold it, it's not like my bladder is gonna explode. I practice holding it during the day and when I finally go, I have much more then when I wake up in the middle of the night. I really think my body is used to going to the bathroom in the middle of the night so I get the strong sensation to go. Like I said, my bladder is not as full as in the day when I hold it. Wow! What a problem. Sleep is the main problem I have. If I get PLENTY of sleep, I feel so good and so happy and so refreshed and so playful and so friendly and so alert and so strong and so on and on and on.

You could try increasing the amount of water you drink during the day, so that your body gets used to retaining more water. Don't drink any thing that causes a diuretic effect after 6pm such as coffee, coca cola, and some herb teas. Make sure you use the bathroom before bed, a couple of times. It is just a matter of retraining your body, you can do it.

You know. I started this week doubling my water intake during the week. Also, at the same time trying to hold it until I really have to go. I'm suprised that even though I drink more water, I have to use the bathroom less. So, I guess you are right. I am holding water better. Last night I woke up at 650am, 10 mins before time to get up. Didn't wake up all night. Now that is real progress. I woke up this morning singing songs as I was getting ready to go to work. Slept pretty well. Still haven't been on 5htp a month yet. Hopefully things just continue to get better. I will take it another month to see how I feel. I may increase if I think I can be better. If not, will just stay at the 100mg day. Talk to you later.
