Well. I decided to get off St Johns Wort. I've been off for 2 days now. I tell ya. I don't have problems with my digestive system anymore. I have been taking 5htp for two days. 100mg right before I go to bed. I seem to be sleeping a little bit better. Last night it took me about 30 mins to fall asleep as opposed to 2.5 hrs. I only woke up about 3 times as opposed to about 7. It may be working. We'll see. No side effects yet. Talk to yall later.

Hey, I'm really pleased for you Billy.
5-HTP DOES help brilliantly with sleeping and you do get a better quality of sleep. Your sleeping pattern sounds very similiar to how mine used to be. I would go many many nights without any sleep whatsoever.
Personally, I find that if I take it 30mins before I go to bed it works better than taking it and jumping straight into bed. When I get in bed I set my radio alarm for 10mins listening to a quiet radio station (no music, just talking) on a low volume and quite often I find that I don't remember it going off. That is something that before I took 5-HTP had NEVER happend to me.
I have been taking it for awhile now and it still does help me to sleep, aswell as keeping me on a level playing field emotionally.
I hope it works for you as good as it has for me.
Cheers
Nicky

I took SJW years ago as a life long sufferer of depression. I was on a strict diet, vitamins, and workout schedule and things were going fine until the big "D", divorce. Anyway, I have been trudging along for a few years now, off of all my routines, etc. and now it's time to get back to life. I was doing research and came across this site.
Is 5hpt a replacement, or upgrade, to SJW? I suffer from insomnia and sometimes go for days without sleep or I end up falling asleep at 2 am only to wake up an hour later convinced I'm starving to death. Then when I finally pass out I end up waking up sooooooooo tired and worn out I can't think straight and end up wasting the day doing nothing.
thanks
Mark
