Help! I just orderd Narture's way with b6 because I read someone here had success with that and I bought the coated tablets thinking it would help the horrible stomach problems I had with plan 5-htp, but then I read somewhere (I think it says it on the nature's way bottle that I orderded) that 5-htp should not be taken bypeople who have stomach problems or ulcers. I have an ulcer and 5-htp was really really upsetting my stomach so I stopped taking it BUT it was helping my anxiety. The problem is it upset my stomach so much, it put me in a really bad mood. Does anyone know if there is any way to alleviate the stomach problems - like eating food with 5-tp? Especially now that I just orderd two more bottles of the coated tablets? Does that help? My ulcer actually was diagnosed years ago and is not active unless somethng really bothers it - like the 5-htp did. I was taking the allergy research brand. Thanks for any help!

Hello. I too have just started taking the Nature's Way 5-HTP with Vit. B-6 and C. I've only been on it for 4 days, but have felt a bit nauseous, and bloated stomach. St. Johns wort did this to me, when trying it a year ago. And it still has not helped with the anxiety either. I just weaned off Zoloft after being on this for 2 years and it worked very well for me, but I wanted to try something more natural at this point. Thanks. Pauline

I have heard that 5-htp should not be taken with vitamin b6? I'm not sure, there is so much conflicting news out there about that particular topic. In any case, I've started on tryptophan which I like better and get from my naturopathic doctor. It helps me sleep and doesn't upset my stomach! :) If 5-htp continues to bother you, you may want to try l-tryptophan. I like it so far.
