Topic Title: Anxiety

For the past eight months or so, I have been suffering from extreme anxiety. I have always been a "nervous" person, but it never interrupted with my daily thoughts and actions until recently. I think this has a lot to do with moving to a new area, losing my job (downsized) and having to undergo signifigant surgery. I thought that once all of these things passed, I would feel like myself again, but I am still very nervous and anxious all of the time. It is either this, or overwhelming feelings of depression. I started taking 5-htp at 50 mg x 3 a day plus SJW at 300mg x 3 and kava kava at 150mg x 3. I feel a little different, but not completly normal. It has been over two months now. Does anyone know about proper dosage of 5-htp for anxiety? Also, does anyone else combine these three pills with successful results? I am worried that I may be doing more harm than good...thank you.

I used to take 500 mg per day of 5htp for depression. Try increasing your dose of 5htp. Kava Kava is suppose to act like perscription anti-anxiety meds, but I would becareful until there is more information about this liver disease scare.
Have you also tried therapy, meditation, exercise, prayer... Therapy especially can help to change the way you think and lessen your anxiety.
