Hi all
Just thought I'd let you know how I'm doing on 5-HTP. I've been taking it for 2 weeks now to help with my chronic insomnia.
I have only been taking 50mg and have noticed an improvement in my sleep (much deeper, less awakenings). I find that the best time for me to take it is in the afternoon.
The only concern I have is that I have developed a skin rash over the last week. Has anyone else experienced this while on 5HTP?? It may be coincidental and due to something else entirely but just wondered if anyone else has had this.

yes i have got bad itchy skin rash on neck from both SJW and 5HTP its really unfortunate... I might try typtophan see it that gives me a rash...

Hiya Melanie,
I can remember reading somewhere that there is a possibility of Dermititus as a side effect but that it was quite rare.
I guess if the rash has continued it could be caused by 5-HTP but..... fingers crossed it hasn't.
Hope it has cleared by now.
I too have found 5-HTP to be fantastic in aiding my sleeping. I have NEVER had such good sleeps as I do now.
I take 300mg 30-45mins before my bedtime and it takes me 20mins max to go asleep - NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE.
