Help!
It seems that every time I turn around, I'm reading about weight gain as a potential side effect of any adp, including SJW (tho the reports of weight gain from SJW are much fewer than those reported for Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, etc.). The reports I read seem to indicate that a craving for carbs is what causes the weight gain, not a complete whacking of the metabolic system. But all I know is that I want an adp that is not, in any way shape or form, associated with weight gain.
So I've done the research and noticed that only Wellbutrin, Serzone, SAM-E, and 5-HTP are *NOT* associated with weight gain. I quit prozac a month ago and started SJW. I *think* it's working, but prozac takes so long to leave the body, it's hard to know which drug or herb is doing what.
Just in case, I added SAM-E to the mix. Now, I've read about the miraculous 5-htp and I'm second-guessing my decision. Can I add 5-HTP to SAM-E and SJW, or shoudl I take one of those out of the mix? If so, which one? I'm sooooooo tired of tweaking with meds and herbs and I just want to feel decent without putting on a bunch of weight.
Help! I'm tired of feeling like a ten-ton, bloated test tube drug experiment!!

I don't know anything about sam-e. Others in this forum combine sjw and 5htp with success. I personally use 5htp for depression and Kava Kava for anxiety. But the point I want to make is that 5htp reduces carbohydrate cravings and has been used in some weight loss studies, with success by the way.
