Topic Title: Caffeine

I have drank coffee now for about 16 years and I'm addicted to caffeine. I notice that coffee seems to cut the effect of 5-htp and it seems that my serotonin levels drop and a little depression sinks in. At first it looked as though I could continue to drink coffee, but now it seems as though I'm finally going to have to quit.
Anyone else notice that caffeine cuts serotonin levels?

For sure. I have tried to kick caffeine so many times. I know it increases my anxiety level and I think it triggers cravings for carbohydrates. When I took SJW I noticed the effects of caffeine were amplified. I had to take in less coffee. I think that if you can kick it, it has got to be a more stable solution in the long run. Tough little habit.

I like coffee, also. However, caffeine affects me terribly. Two minutes after I take a drink of coffee, the negative effects set in. I feel good a first and then I sink. By the end of the day, I am stressed out, negative and depressed, plus feel just lousy.I know it's the caffeine that does it. So, I just don't drink anything with caffeine.

How much coffee are you drinking? You may just want to cut back. I find that the caffeine reduces the "tired" side effect from the 5htp. If I drink too much coffee it raises my anxiety level, is that related to serotonin? I don't know? I use Kava Kava for anxiety, and it really relaxes me.
