I'd been taking 5-htp for 6 weeks. It wasn't working so I quit taking it last night. I was taking 100mg 3x/day. Do brands of 5-HTP vary as much as brands of SJW seem too? I'm just wondering if I wasn't taking the right brand of 5-htp. I've only found 2 stores around here that carry it- Vitamin World & GNC. GNC costs at least 2x as much. I didn't try it.

I just switched from Vitamin World brand SJW/kavakava to Sundown SJW. I want to see if the Sundown brand works first before I maybe pursue 5-htp again. The Vitamin World brand SJW did nothing for me, so I'm thinking maybe the Vitamin World 5-htp is the same way- just not for me?

I recommend Nature's way 5htp. You can buy it at http://www.iherb.com/iherb/store.html or http://store.yahoo.com/vitanet/index.html at a reasonable price. Also, I take 5htp 2x/day, 200-250mg each time. In the morning and late afternoon.

Brand name is critical with 5-HTP. I would suggest either Solaray, Natures Way, or Allergy Research group. I would definitely try it again
