I just found this site today..
I'de be interested in your experience with dealing with depression and chronic pain... I bought some SJW today and am going to try it out. I figure gradual increase in dose as my body is very sensitive. I've tried anti-depressants in the past but they only made matters worse with the side effects, particularly the anxiety level.
I am dealing with a very high pain level condition... TOS - Thoracic Outlet Syndrome... muscular and nerve pain is the problem.
take care m.c.c.

I began taking St. John's Wort about 4 months ago. At first I thought it was not working, but continued taking it, and finally got relief after about a month. I have no "panic attacks" with St. John's Wort (I believe the other anti- depressants actually caused them) and the pain in my back, from a herniated disc, has gone. The herb has not gotten rid of ALL my pain, however, as I have another chronic pain condition that I am still suffering from.... but no drug OR herb is perfect.
If you don't give up, and continue taking St. John's Wort for a month or longer, I truly believe you will get some relief. You don't feel "high" on it, like you do with some other anti- depressants, and you don't feel as though you're on speed, but these are the things I like about SJW. It's a "natural" feeling of improved mood. No drastic changes.....
Good luck, stay with it.... Gina
