I started taking SJW about 6 or 7 weeks ago, and had begun to see a beneficial effect. I went to the dr. for headaches 2 weeks ago, and she put me on a nerve block medication (amitryptaline, a tri-cyclic antidepressant at higher doses)to stop my headaches, and a few days later, I noticed a few spots on my knee. four days later, I was (and still am!) covered with hives! I stopped both a week ago, and the dr. said that it may have been the SJW, and that it took awhile to build up...this makes little sense to me, but I stopped it anyway. The problem is, I have noticed my mood backsliding, which would be unfortunate! Anyone else have a delay this long before the appearance of a rash? I personally suspect the amitryptiline, but I just wanted to ask. I would really appreciate any opinions via post/email. Thanks so much!

This is really unfoturnate. Anyone got any I solutions? i might try tryptophan/SSRIs dont know what else to do.

Did you always take the same brand? It is not surprising that your mood would backslide some, now that you have quit the SJW. When the hives clear up will you try taking SJW again minus the amitryptaline?

jumpinjr </td><td align=right> </td></tr></table></td><td width="74%" bgcolor=#dddedd> <IMG SRC="/forums/graphics/icons/posticon.gif"> "Re(2):desiring an opinion" , Fri 6 Apr 16:36<HR SIZE=1> i took sjw 3 years ago after i had a miscarraige and it worked wonderful. i got a rash also after 6 weeks but i had to get my tonsills out and they were really infected the doc. keep telling me that i was allergic to it but i took it to 2 allergy specilaist and they tested me for it and i was not allegic to it . make a long storey short the day after my tonsills came out i quite itching. so if i was you i would try it again.
