I got a good laugh from the title of this article:
Semen acts as an anti-depressant
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn2457.html
If anyone has some empirical research to add to this claim, please post it here. :spin:

Its interesting that because in some cultures men are taught to save their semen. In India in the Vaishnava tradition young men refrain from releasing any semen as it is supposed to be saved in order to build their strength, mentally and physically. To release it is supposed to drain a man of some vital force.
That is why celibacy is practised in some cultures and why masturbation always used to be seen to be bad. The blindness they used to say resulted from such things was a kind of metaphorical blindness referring to the darkness of depression.
Interesting anyway.
