View Full Version : Why my reaction to SJW varies on certain days?

Does anyone have a similar experience?
Sometimes I will take the smallest amount of SJW (and I am taking 1/30th of 300mg pill) and it will generate the amazing amount of seratonin which literally rob me of the ability to think. Then there are days where I will take 1/2 a pill(and I have never taken more than that) and I will barely feel it.

This drives me literraly CRAZY since I never know what will be enough for me to be functional the next day. And having a job where mental allertness is of highest priority doesn't help my cause a bit. IS this just my struggle???? Since no one talks about SJW, it is almost impossible for me to find out unless someone anwers on this forum (thanks Kelly again for this wonderful idea of yours).

I also had the same problem as you. If I take just a little, say 30mg I can feel it pretty good and then I start taking the whole pill and sometimes I feel "good" and then again nothing. Till the last week where I suddenly felt it kicking in really bad, I was tense and couldn't think anymore , just horrible. So I decided to stop. And the effects from withdrawal are also horrible. So no SJW for me anymore, for sure.

I'd never heard of anyone having withdrawl symptoms before. Has anyone else experienced that?

Also, Tru, I wonder if your the differing effects you're experiencing aren't a result of the time of day, but perhaps due to the irregular amount of active ingredients in the brand you're using? I read elsewhere that the amount of those ingredients can sometimes vary wildly, since the supplements market is largely unregulated. Just a thought.

I am sure that it has something to do with both of those factors. Sometimes I will take just a little bit SJW throughout the day (because I don't think I have enough in the system) and it makes me feel really weird. I am getting really tired of it but have no choice.
I think withdrawal sumptoms exist. Body probably shuts down it system of keep seratonin floating aroud since SJW does it. So it probably takes some time to get back to normal Unfortunately I don't have that luxury to be depressed for 10 days before my body gets back to normal.

Tru,

How do you manage to make your smaller doses ? Do you have pills with the SWJ extract protected inside the pill ? Do you cut the pills into two or more parts ?

It is pure hypothesis, but maybe only the first part you take has the right hyperforin concentration. As for the other parts, hyperforin is altered by oxydation before you take them.

To get the standard dosage with most brands you need three capsules or pills. So you'd just take two or one instead of three. If you're buying those one-a-day brands then it's easier to switch to a different brand and to get your scissors out. :)

The brand I am using now consists in pills which are yellow on the outside, exactly as the Saint-John Wort flowers. But when I cut a pill with scissors, I find that the inside is made of a grey material, which must be the SJW extract itself.

If my information is correct, hyperforin is not stable when exposed to the air and the light. As long as the pill is in the box, the extract is protected by the yellow “skin”, but the protection disappears when the pill is cut with scissors.

Thus, the first half of the pill, I mean the one the user takes immediately, will have a normal concentration. But the second half, if the user takes it one day later, will have a much smaller concentration. This would explain why TRU finds important variations in his reactions to SJW, depending on days. How do you think about it ?

Vulpix;

You're right. Hyperforin is an extremely unstable substance. From what I understsnd it's very sensitive to oxygen, light, heat, and humidity. I read a study somewhere (sorry, I can't recall where and can't provide a reference) that indicated Hyperforin breaks down within a matter of hours in the presence of oxygen. I think that's one of the reasons there is so much variability in the effectiveness of different brands. I believe the stated amount of Hyperforin in a product is not as important as what is done to keep it stable. I know it's been discussed before on this forum that several people have had the experience with Perika (for example) that when a new bottle is started, it works good for a few days and then poops out, hypothetically because the Hyperforin is not stabilized well and starts breaking down after a few days.
