I've just started to do some research on St. John's Wort. I've been taking Wellbutrin for my medium grade depression. It works pretty well, but after about 6-8 weeks on it I started to notice a ringing in my ears. After doing research I found that this was a possible symptom of the drug.
After consult with my doctor it was ok'd that I stop the meds to see if that is in fact the cause of the ear ringing. She also ok'd St. John's Wort. Thanks to this site I have just learned quite a bit about it, and am thinking it would work well for me.
Has anyone had any similar experiences with Wellbutrin? and if so, what has worked the best since?

I'm thinking of going to Wellbutrin after two weeks of Wort. I just need a light at the end of the tunnel NOW.

My intention is to do a program of wellbutrin, and resume Wort again for the longer term when I get myself on an even keel. I feel I owe it to myself, and those around me to feel better than this.

hey!

i was on 150mg on Wellbutrin, and i did get ringing in my ears from time to time, along with a few other side effects, but none as bad as Lexapro, Cymbalta or Prozac.

I have been off Wellbutrin for about 3 weeks now and today I'm starting 150mg of St. John's Wort (once right after i eat breakfast now, then once after i eat dinner)

For my anxiety I either vaporize (smoke-free method) or smoke a small quantity of high grade medicinal marijuana (recommened by my M.D.) or I take Klonopin (but i prefer the MJ because it helps nausea/anxiety much better than Klonopin and isn't physically addicting and has no bad withdrawal problems like the benzo's do.

If you do try SJW please let me know (and all of us) how it works for you!!

Thanks,
Rob

I'm not going to delete the above thread, but I must add a comment. Taking marijuana to treat depression is not a good idea and is likely to make one more depressed long-term.

To Rob: a thread on SJW and marijuana is fine, but please don't mention marijuana in every single post. It's really not relevant and will take this forum in different directions than I have intended.

To Patrick: even if you go to Wellbutrin, it's gonna take some time to kick in as well. Giving SJW only two weeks isn't really giving it a fair chance. It really does work for millions of people. Go out and spoil yourself and see a new movie, buy an ice-cream or go for a nice walk in a park and try to bide your time while you're waiting for it to work. You're on the road to recovery, it just takes a little while.
