I am a "Fitness Specialist" and talk to many people daily that have depression and pms symtoms. They take so many medications for their symptoms and I suggest many times, (with their dr's supervision) that they try exercise, dietary changes, and natural remedies to improve their condition.
I recently tried St Johns Wort for pms, which has gotten worse in the last 5 years after the birth of my last child. I am 40 years old and very healthy.
I purchased 300 mg with 0.3% hypericin and took 3 tablets in the morning with breakfast. I did not see any changes until 4 weeks later. I experienced a great amount of anxiety and a racing heart rate. I also experienced dizziness and extreme fatigue around 8:00pm in the evening. I went to the dr and got an ECG and my heart rate was jumping all over the place. I never equated the St Johns Wort and this reaction, until I went to your website and read that a small amount of people have this reaction. Thank you so much for posting these replies, because I really thought that I was going a little beserk! As some of the others commented, I think that St Johns Wort is an amazing supplement, but should be taken under the supervision of a homeopathic physician or a health care provider that is educated in herbs and natural remedies and reactions to other medications that you are taking. By the way, I am not taking any other medications, but teach aerobics 4 days a week and lift weights 3 days a week. Exercise has been known to increase seratonin and dopamine to the brain, which helps with PMS and mild depression.
Well, anyway I hope that this is helpful to anyone who is willing to read all the way through this!
Have a Healthy and Happy Day!

I agree totally with you about trying more exercise with dietary changes to relieve depression and other related problems. It is unfortunate that SJW didn't work out for you. I feel that people starting out on taking SJW should work their way up over a few weeks to the full 900mg dose. Also, two or three smaller doses a day (especially in the beginning) might be better than one big dose, once a day.
