Hi everyone,

I've just upgraded the forum software to version 3.7.0. It adds a number of new features, so I'll summarize a few of them here:

inline spam management and prevention (yay!)
reciprocal friendships between users - go to your "User CP" control panel and start adding your friends... don't forget me either! It should show up in your profile then. :glasses:
Public visitor messaging on profile pages with 'conversation' feature ... not sure what this is exactly, but it sounds like we can comment on each other's profile pages.
User picture galleries with user comment facility. Great if you want to upload a few pictures, say of your latest trip to Mexico. :freak4:
Extended member profile pages
Viewable and comparable history maintained for post edits (cool, but I have no idea how they do this yet)
New human-verification tools including reCAPTCHA, and question/answer - this prevents spambots from posting to the forum.
Social bookmarking integration ... for those social networking butterflies among you.

That's it for now. The software was just released a few hours ago and I've already got it up-and-running on the site with no problems. If you have any comments about these features, you are welcome to reply here!

For fun I uploaded a few pictures of my trip to Mexico last month. Click on my profile and you'll see them. It also appears we can comment on each other's profile too... great stuff. I know some of you want to stay anonymous so that's fine, but you could always upload a photo or two that doesn't show your face! :lookaround:

We're now running vBulletin 3.7.2. There have been a few updates to the software which I diligently upload, since they are security fixes that keep people from hacking this board.

Just today I was about to upgrade the forum when I saw a new user, "Keneth" register on the forum and immediately post a large SPAM message. Well, with the new features of the board I was able to delete/remove the message and ban "Keneth" in one fell swoop. I hate to have to deal with spam, but it's still a reality.

The board seems to be running well with no software problems as far as I can see, and it's been a few years on the new software. I wish I had more time to check and reply to messages, but I do what I can and REALLY APPRECIATE all of you who take the time to reply with your thoughts and experiences.

thanks,
kelly

Kelly,

Personal opinion - I think the board is great. It's definitely the most advanced of two or three boards I go on and the extra features really add something to the mix.

Some of the boards I've visited have waaaay too many thread headings and whole sections of the board go unused. I think you've called it about right with nine sub-sections.

Keep up the good work,

Sheephead.
