Hello everyone,
I was recently prescribed Celexa and have been taking 10 mg. once a day for about 10 days. I really don't feel any improvement at this point. Most of what I've read and heard about Celexa has been negative, so I'm wondering if anyone has had any success taking it?
I had been taking SJW for about 3 months before the doctor prescribed Celexa, and I thought it was helping, but the doctor thought I could use something stronger since my depression has been constant for about 10 years.
Thanks for any thoughts.

RR+5-HTP is the best AD combo available IMO. Celexa is poison. You could start with SJW and 5-HTP, then add a little RR slowly and build up VERY SLOWLY until you feel fine, but careful to not get serotonin syndrome or mania etc. Good luck. :)

It's impossible to generalise about any anti-depressant. Celexa didn't work for me -- it made me feel tired and withdrawn. However, I know someone very well who swears by it -- it really 'works the oracle' for them. I would say if your doctor has prescribed it for you, then give it a try. (Incidentally, 10mg sounds like a farily low dose).
I don't know why the previous poster describes it as 'poison'. Not a paricularly measured commment IMO.
Good luck, anyway.

I too was just given a prescrip for Celexa. I am to start with 10mg/day for the first 7 days, then up it to 20mg. I went to the Celexa forum today just to read up on what others have to say. This stuff almost scares me more than the Paxil I just took a few months to get off of. I do know that if Celexa fatigues me, I'll be off it before it may ever have a chance to work. Just type "celexa" into your search engine and read some of the testimonials. I'll get the prescrip filled tomorrow, but I am facing this with an enourmous amount of dread!

I'm not 'banging the drum' for Celexa.....However, if you type the name of any anti-depressant into a search engine the results will invariably scare you witless.
The trick is to try and get a general impression of a medication rather than take every anecdote too literally. SSRIs are great for some people and useless for others. Once I had taken three or four different ones, I realised I belonged firmly in the latter category.
Take search engine stuff with a slight pinch of salt, though.
