Other than the obvious depression that brought us all to this great forum, what other physical or mental conditions do you have that bring you discomfort on a regular basis, and have you found any natural relief for those conditions?

Hi Amylees. That was a very funny reply to Kellys error in your name, love it. Anyway, myself I have a ton of quirks. I have a need to have extreme order in my surroundings. Everything aligned just so and always adjusting things. Not only in my own place but others as well. Clothing has to be spotless and always checking attire in general. I dont like being so particular about these things yet I cant stop, it gets so tiring! I dont have time to discuss all my problems that would take an eternity, but that is a major one. Take care and god bless.

I have back problems. I have to see a chiropractor on a regular basis. I also have a bit of anxiety, but I don't take anything for that. I am also a highly sensitive person, which I believe I discussed in another thread.

I, too, experience alot of bloating. I've recently noticed that when I cut back on my carb. intake, I don't experience it to a bad extent. Also drinking more water.

I'm 33 and still have pimples too. It's sad because I've had complexion problems all my life, and believed the tale about hitting your 20s and haven't clear skin. It didn't happen here. :frown:

I am also a highly sensitive person. Maudlin, have you read the book "The Highly Sensitive Person"? It is very informative. Sounds like we have a few things in common.

Hey Maudlin, I hope you can read my post. I came across your post today, there are several points you mentioned .. thirst, low bld pressure, vision, constip. - I think you have to check you blood sugar. I do think you might have border line diabetes - so called pre-diabetes. Thirst is due to the gloucose- you need to drink more water and pass out frequently, blurr of vision. I hope you get this message and we can talk more. In most cases, Diab patient tends to be more tired and lack of motivation. I have to say, even when you are under diab medication, you will encounter similar problems with depression and anxiety. The sugar level in the blood affects circulation, breathing, mood and eating habit. Check that first, I suggest you for the time being, meas your bread, rice or pasta intake critically and serve that over a big bed of green -leaf vege or slight stir-fry green vege. It makes the digestion system work harder and slow down the process. Best,

Hi S.T.,
I have been thinking about diabetes, but every time I mention this to someone they think I'm crazy. I am fairly lean now although I was quite overweight at some point. And I don't eat any sugar, I do eat rice in the morning and sometimes bread but otherwise mostly veggies. How do I find out for sure? I have a new doc, will ask her. Thanks a lot! This is really interesting and important.

Hi AmyLee,
I will get that book. I was hoping for age 20 as well! And when it did not happen I waited and waited and I think I gave up when I was 30 or so. I thought so far that it is related to cheese and dairy although my chin is 'blooming' right now and I have not had any dairy in a long time. I have a book on Food as Medicine, that is where I had the idea about the wheat and the dairy. Not sure it is still in print. Thanks for suggesting the book for sensitive people!

Hi Greeneyes,
Check out your thyroid. If your doctor tells you that your thyroid is fine, have them do a TRH test. The usual TSH misses to diagnose too frequently.
Found this page: http://www.patientsmedical.com/ThyroidTest.html
Apparently, people are frequently misdiagnosed as having fibromyalgia, and fatigue is directly related to that as well.

Maudin, Hi,
I read your reply. My mother has diabetes and she is not fat at all. I am lean,5'7" 123 -128 lbs but I have diabetes since high school and now I am 40 with two kids in college and high school. I have been keeping the blood sugar level at bay without medication. You can be model like skinny and have cholestral and diab at the same time. I joined the forum because of my brothers and friends who are suffering from depression, bipolar with alcoholic + ocd, and living in denial. I understand the sym of depression rather well, including Huntington related depression. Long time diab med users can cause depression very easily and most diab. patience thought that the med can cure diab.

If money is not a big problem, get a blood test device from CVS, it is around $170. If you told your doc all your sym and he still refused to order the test for you, press on. He must be very inexperienced. I have docs in my family and I heard a lot of stories, not a lot of doctors are good out there. They do not know the traditional ways of inspection; how to feel your gland, feel your pulse.... read the uneven skin tone. ... you need to be very sensitive to yourself and read a lot. Ask for a test. Also, if you afraid to let the HMO has your record on diabetes. Check it yourself. Under 100 is normal and over 115 and so ... is called pre-diabetic. Follow the instruction of the device.

Read about I.F. factor and how it works with B6 and B12. you might gain more insight on the digesive system. One of my girlfriends is seriously constip. and she eats vege like a cow, still. She is intrinsically nervous. Someone suggested her to take B6, B12 (or b-complex), peel an orange after meal and comsume the orange (no orange juice), and SJW perika 2 times daily. It seems to me she is more relaxed. Do you drink coffee? Are you taking Iron and calcium tablets ?? which can cause serious constip to some person. Take Dong Kwai supplement after the menstrul cycle and drop the iron table. Try and see if there is any diff.

watch the video about diabetic netropathy and understand more

I am not taking medication, I have never taken any diabetic med. Believing exercising is the most effective way to lower the sugar level.

I worked out (aerobics, ashtanga yoga 1.5 hr per session, twice weekly; kick boxing, at least once a week. If you do not have time to go to the gym, you can buy billy blanks' dvd, Budokon- power and agility dvd. Try to set a sch and do that at home in the morning and yoga in the evening. Group exer is always more challenging and more effective, (too ashamed to stop while the whole class is moving fanatically...) It also helps to alleviate depression

Food wise... "playing card" concept. Meat is meas habitually like the size of a deck of playing cards and do not eat more that amount of meat per meal. Cut down any refined starch, as it is easily be digested and the sugar gets into the blood stream too fast .... shot up the sugar level... you will feel strange then. Lunch is my main meal. Actually I can eat almost everything, as long as it is served on a big bed of green-leaf vege (stir fry or salad with red or white wine vinegar). CUT YOUR SODIUM . When it comes to sweet or any kind of dessert - 2 spoonfuls (each time) several times a week. WATCH THE SAUCE ON YOU FOOD.

Diabetes can cause a great deal of depression, procrastination, no attention span, no patience..... it is logical, because you are very tired thru out the day.

DO NOT WORRY. Since you are lean, it is good news. You can overcome it by exercising and diet alone without medication - I promise it works well. (Pick up a sport ... tennis or squash and make more active friends.) I do figure skating, martial arts and kick boxing a few times a week,. If you are busy that day, walk or jump rope for as little as 15 minutes that morning before leaving the house or before yr breakfast. YES, actually learning how to control diabetes can change your life in a very good way. Take mild B-complex, Gingo Biloba (whole food brand), if you are taking SJW, it is still ok. Maybe being pre-diabetic is a good thing.

........Oh, one more thing, if you are too thirty, make a strong cup of simple Chinese green tea (Starbuck china green tip). It will quench your thirst instantly.

You can test yourself: try to drink a glass of ocean spray cranberry juice and see how thirsty you feel afterward... you can see the uneven skin tone on your face after consuming a lot of sugar. Read the nutrition facts on the box of your cereal, so called sport drinks.... soda .. ... will chat again soon.

Wow, Thanks soooo much!!! This is very helpful! I read a bit and will read more. My grandmother had diabetes, as far as I remember, but only in old age. Maybe there is a predisposition.
Thanks again!
