I've been taking Rhodiola now for a few days, after I finally decided to take it. I was reading a lot online about biologic anti-depressive supplements, I first wanted to take something with SJW, but I didn't want to take a combination of sjw with relaxers like passionflower, valeriana etc. which are found in Depraxan, SJW Supercomplex for example. I looked more into amino acids too, tryptophan, 5htp & tyrosine mostly, I wanted to take a product with rhodiola, 5htp & sjw before I read an article about 5htp being bad for your health with a reasonable explanation. I read more about rhodiola than, very good things more & more, also here, than I still had to choose between rhodiola & sjw, and because i heard from some people here rhodiola worked to them & sjw didn't, I decided to take rhodiola. I bought it from NSI, 240 capsules for a cheap price from vitacost (what was recommend on this forum by someone), read good (great) reviews on the site there about the brand & effects, so I expected pretty much of it. I took Seroxat before (paroxetine) a few years ago, and that worked very well to me, felt a lot happier, more focused, energy etc.
Now I'm taking the rhodiola for a few days, 2 capsules a day like it says, and I really feel nothing, maybe a bit relaxed just after I take it, that might be placebo even. Now from what I heard this stuff normally works directly, so I thought it just doesn't work to me, or is it possible it will only start to work after a few weeks like with SJW ? The ingredients are Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract 3% Rosavins, 1% Salidrosides, Rhodiola Rosea Root 200mg. I could still take them as a powertraining, sporting supplement later but if it won't work at all on my mood etc now than I want to try SJW because without something I feel often too down at daytime, even I do think positive etc.

Hi oharra!
Sorry to hear that the RR isn't working out for you. I started out with SJW 900mg day when I first weaned myself off Paxil. I couldn't tell if it shifted my mood or not, as it left me so fatigued I was totally immobilized. I stopped it altogether and went immediately onto RR(New Chapter Force 100). At first, I wanted to work myself into it. Didn't work real well at first, but I did feel energized, and I'm sure that helped in alleviating the depression. I am now taking the same product but 300mg/day....150 upon arising, and another 150 around lunch. I am feeling great for now, and hope it holds. I did note that the product you are taking is a 3:1 ratio, whereas What I'm taking is more like a 4:1 ratio. I cannot say that this has anything to do with anything, but it might indicate you should increase your dosage a bit. It goes without saying that each person's sytem/psyche(neurosishttp://www.sjwinfo.org/forums/graphics/emoticons/biggrin2.gif) is different, but, I've really had to play around with this abit to get a "balance" in what was or wasn't working. I am now taking SJW again, but only 300mg/day, plus the 300mg/day of RR, and I am feeling fine. I am even allowning myself a second cup off coffee a day now without feeling totally wired. I also take 1 multi-vitamin per day, plus an additional B-complex supplement. I also eat well(with lots of tuna, salmon, tilapia, and flax in my diet for the Omegas) and drink two mega-protien+vitamin shakes/smoothies per day, though there are times that I'm sure the RR is suppressing my appetite, and I'm getting an abundance of excersise.....once in the morning, and again late afternoon(long mountain walks with the dogs, lots of uphill/downhill). In addition, I start and end each day with a good deal of inspirational/positive reinforcment reading. I'm just not a firm believer that just suppplements(pharmaceutical or herbal) are the answer fo "ME" without the add-ons. Avoiding negative thinking people also helpshttp://www.sjwinfo.org/forum/images/icons/icon13.gif. My inclination would be to stick with it. Tweak it. Find "your" balance. If it still doesn't work, then move on to something else. I just know I do NOT want to be back on Paxil. There's no telling how much damage may have been done during the 10 or so years I was taking it. Wishing you the best!

Thanks for the response, but what I was mostly wondering about is could it be that it takes a few weeks till it works or if it doesn't work now, that it will never work ? Because from reviews of people it seems to work immediately for most.

For me, it worked immediately. But, I can tell that after a few weeks things are even better than they were in the beginning. I'm sure it all will depend on your tolerance, what other meds/herbs you are taking, and what state your own system is already in. As you can probably see from previous posts by others, we've had varying results with this product. Because of the factors listed above, and my own experience with a "progressive" lift, I'd say there is a good possibility you may begin to feel better, and would want to continue taking it. If you've already bought the product but at this point you're feeling "no different", what have you got to lose by continuing? I sure hope you get the results I have. Stopping now? Well, you've tossed money out the window either way....now or later.....But, based on my own experience, that is the way I feel now compared to when I first started, I think you should give it a chance. Guess I am just SOOO hoping you get the results that I have that I hate to see you not give it a shot, even if just for a somewhat longer term. My best to you!
