i suffer from chronic depression and anxiety and have been on:rosiecheeks: effexor xr for 8 years...i decided to "wean" off of it, and with the assist of my therapist have done so...then i started prozac and was still unacceptably depressed...now, i have been off everything, except my ativan, which i take 3 times/day...i have been interested in the 5 HTP and was wondering where this can be purchased online at a "reasonable" cost...

one of the major reasons for going off effexor xr, was the cost...prozac was less expensive, but doesn't work for me...i'm at a crossroads now...my system is pretty much cleaned out of the pharm anti-d's and of course i am depressed...BTW...exercise does help, but is not a panacea...i would appreciate any advice on where to purchase 5 HTP and do you think the RR would be necessary in light of the fact i take ativan?

thanks so much for any advice you can give me...pat

The majority of my herbal purchases have been online at places like www.iherb.com and www.vitacost.com. I have also bought stuff at my local GNC and Walmart stores.

Congrats on weaning off Effexor. I was an Effexor user as well and it was a nightmare to get off of.

I buy mine at the local CVS Pharmacy or Rite Aid. No sense paying for shipping costs if you don't have to. I use Source Naturals brand and it works for me.
