Well saw a new Dr today, liked him, very informed about benzo issues and the w/d. That in itself gave me some relief having endured over a yr of w/d issues. He offered Remeron for my insomnia problems. He was aware of the natural products but was hesitant due to products actual purities? I still want to give RR a chance and just got my bottle today. Thinking trying the Remeron tonight just to see??? but would rather stick to more natural means full time. Wondering, is it ok to take Remeron at night and RR in the morning? Hoping the Remeron works for insomnia and only use it occassionally in lieu of a benzo sleep med. and have the RR for depression/anxiety/fatigue. I see Remeron side effects are lethergy and weight gain, urgh, don't want that. Does RR effect Seratonin too much to add with Remeron? 15mg is a low dose I have, might not work but I want to give it a try? but also want to try the RR. Since it is evening time can't start the RR but I could try the Remeron tonight? Has anyone mixed meds like these? cj

Well, got my answer by trial and error...they don't mix. I slept 9hrs + and after a whole day of total fatigue just now feeling awake, urgh. I took one RR this morning and suffered with a headache all day. Boy Remeron knocks you for a loop! But on a positive note I am feeling so---much better, happier, making plans etc. It can't be the anti d, gotta be the RR! So hoping its the RR and sticking with it, holding off on the Remeron. Hoping to sleep ok without that darn remeron pill and stay with RR, and 5-htp for back up. Keeping my fingers crossed.;)

Try taking 5htp instead of Remeron for sleeping probs. It helps you to fall asleep and the quality of the sleep is far better as well. You don't wake up feeling groggy and you can take a RR each morning and after lunch as well if you still feel a bit tired.
5htp is has antidepressant qualities because it increases the serotonin levels in the brain naturally. You won't get the side effects that you're having with the Remeron.

I was taking a high dose of 1500 mg + of RR along with 15 mg mirtazapine (Remeron.,) and 5HTP (100 mg) and tramadol (300 mg daily on average.) My mood was excellent! I was on this combo for at least six months, and the problem I had was too much sleep! My sleep was excellent too, but I would sleep for far too long (twelve hours was a short night) and still feel sleepy while I was awake. I didn't get any symptoms of serotonin syndrome. I've since dropped the mirtazapine and reduced my dose of RR to 550 mg daily, and I still take 100 mg of 5HTP. My sleep is good now and down to eight hours on most nights - sometimes less, never more. I'm aiming to have eight hours nightly as this is said to be the ideal, but I'll listen to my body and if I feel i need more or less I'll adjust my sleeping pattern accordingly. I take multi- vitamins and minerals, and omega-3 - all of this helps a lot too, as does a 'normal' sleep pattern and regular exercise. My mood is good to very good, but not great, which is all I want really. with tramadol and mirtazapine I feel I had become too numb and had gone too far past being not depressed to being unnaturally indifferent. I may go up to 1100 mg of RR in the future if 550 turns out to be too low, but I'll wait and see. That's the only real adjustment I may feel the need to make, or perhaps supplement what I'm taking now with a low dose of SJW.

Remeron is a powerfull AD , causing terrible side effects, including rage, fybromialgia, cronique fatigue syndrome, obesity, eye problems, depersonalization. Its not a benzo. It causes terrible addiction, that would mess up your brain for years.
Carefull I was hook with it, and I regret every second having taking it.

Roy, what eye problems can it cause? I took it for about six to nine months, and hope I've done myself no long-term damage.

Hi ! I upped my dose of Remeron from 15 to 30 after 3 wks on 15. The side effects of over sleep have reduced to waking early now. It still gives me a good 8 or more hrs of sleep, thank God! But, the bloating in my mid section is horrid! I've gained 5 lbs and not happy with that. I'm going to give it a few more wks just to get over this horrid depression and insomnia that's plagued me for yrs. I am MUCH more alive now, a bit "jittery" hope this side effect fades? I tried the RR and it messed up my sleep, I still take a tiny bit of it in the am. Sometimes I add 5-htp trying to curb the appetite and some fish oil too. From all I've read on Remeron weight gain is a big issue and more is less in terms of side effects so we'll see??? I've tried to stay clear of anti d's after bad experiences with trial and error on many. Paxil, was on that one for 5 yrs, helped but weight gain and too unemotional with things. My main concern is getting out of this depression and insomnia troubles. The supplements only took the "edge" off for me and were not enough. I've been fighting a long battle with benzo withdrawal and once a few months pass without any hoping that will be enough time to have had for my system to regain its normal output of natural chemicals? so in the meantime to get thru using the Remeron.

For the one taking Remeron, please go to the link page I give in my first post. Its a most.!
What eye problems can cause Remeron ?
While you are taking it , Glaucoma,
changing your prescription glasses to a higher degree , or in other words loosing sharpneess in your eyes.
Seeing dark spots, like bubbles.
Dry eyes, feeling your eyes like poping out.
Permanet damage : having to use stronger prescription glasses, loosing sharpnesss in your eyes, than can be corrected with fish oil, and specially dha.The dark spots will eventually go away in the course of YEAR.
AD to me should only be use in decisions of life or death, otherwise the cure is worse than the desease.

Do all omega-3 fish oils contain DHA? And is it long or short sightedness that Remeron cuases?

Fish oils have both DHA and EPA, the first one is better for the vision, the second one is better for depression, you can buy them separetly through the internet.
As to what type of vision detriorates Remeron, IN MY CASE WAS
long sightedness , but that what I had to start with, it just made it worse.
Maybe if you are short sightedness it could make it worse, I DONT KNOW.
Good luck.
