5-HTP and Alesse?

I switched from St. John's Wort to 5-HTP 2 months ago, and it's working wonders. However, I've just started taking Alesse (birth control pill) and I'm wondering if 5-HTP lowers its effectiveness. The pamphlet says not to take St. John's Wort and a few other prescription anti-depressants, but does not mention this one. My doctor knows I'm taking it, but he didn't know what it was ("Sort of a home remedy thing, is it?") so I can't ask him about it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Can you find a customer service number for the birth control pills? Maybe there's one on the info sheet or you can find one online.

If I were you, I'd go directly to the manufacturer and ask. It's too important not to.
