For many years I have suffered from social anxiety. I was considering taking either St. Johns Wort or Rhodiola Rosea to help alleviate my problem and was wondering which one is likely to be more effective for this specific problem. Thanks a ton for the advice

Before I address the anxiety issue, I think some info on my SJW experience may help you make a decision. I've taken SJW for about 6 months. It has definitely helped me with both social anxiety and with depression. I haven't tried Rhodiola yet, but I mean to switch to it very soon to see if it is better than SJW. I think of SJW as a substance that enables me to stand back and take a good solid look at my whole life, and it has allowed me to make necessary changes when I feel I don't like something about my life. I used to just let bad days pile up on one another. Now I can think clearly about who I am and what I want to do with my life. I have gone from having very poor relationships with few people to having great new ones and improving the poor ones.

Anyways, to address the anxiety issue, SJW has definitely improved my social and general anxiety. I refer to social anxiety as anxiety I get from being around other people, and I refer to general anxiety as anxiety I have no matter what I'm doing. I used to literally avoid contact with people new or otherwise because my social anxiety was pretty terrible. After just a few days of SJW I started to be able to relax both around other people and by myself. As I continued to take a steady dose of SJW, I began to see people differently: not as people who would judge me, but as people who I could enjoy spending my life with. This has continued steadily to help me improve my life and think positively.

There are of course ups and downs with any treatment, but you must take the good with the bad. It's important to take a steady dose and lead a healthy lifestyle, and when I do this SJW works brilliantly for anxiety and depression alike. The good days far outnumber the bad ones now, and the bad ones aren't at all as difficult as they used to be. I hope this helps! Feel free to ask for advice again, I wish someone was there to give it when I needed it!

well SJW did nothing for me so I tried RR, which pretty much cured all of my anxiety problems. I used to think that I was just naturally an anxious person around other people until I tried RR. I honestly feel that I can take on anything and not worry that my anxiety will stop me dead in my tracks like it did before.
Occasionaly the effects of RR seem to fade so I just switch to suntheanine in the mean time, which has has just as much an effect on me as the RR

I dont think I have social anxiety but I can tell you that Im very shy and have anxiety at times (worry).

Rhodiola has made helped me with my anxiety. I dont worry as much and though Im still shy I find myself more assertive
