How long the SJW takes to "kick-in", this will obviously vary from brand to brand and person to person, but reading that it takes 3 months for somebody may help someone else who is waiting (and hoping!) for it to take effect. 2. Which Brand? - I live in the UK where there is very little choice - Kira, made by Lichtwer Pharma is the main (trusted?) brand so there is nothing to compare with. Nowadays it's fairly easy to order over the web and I am keen to try another brand. I ask these questions to try to get an idea of how varied SJW affects different people ( oh.. and in the hope that the effects will kick-in soon!) Thanks.

I take GNC standardized 300 mg SJW, and it took about a month or so to kick in. I've now been taking it for two months and sometimes still get emotional, but generally feel better. By the way, I've heard that, if one brand doesn't work for you--after a fair trial--you should try another!

I also live in the UK and it seems every health food shop stocks a different brand, all labelled differently (which makes dosage very difficult) and of course all different prices. The only one available in chemist and supermarket chains is Kira, which I avoided at first because of the cost. However, after several months on other brands (notably Solgar and Quest), and with only moderate success, I decided to try Kira's 900mg pack, which cost about ?15 for 30 (from Tesco!) It has really made a consistant difference, so I will stick with it, despite the cost. Wouldn't it be great if doctors could (and would) offer it on prescription as well?
